SideQuest ("we", "us") runs the SideQuest website at sidequestideas.com and the SideQuest mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it. It applies to both the website and the app.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, username, display name, profile photo, time zone, and the invite code you joined with. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email and an account identifier from them.
- What you post: quest completions, including any photos and notes you add and who can see them (private, friends or public), plus comments, reactions, challenges, friend connections and reports you send.
- Progress: XP, level, streaks, badges and which quests and packs you have.
- Purchases: which packs or subscription you bought, its status and renewal date, and a Stripe customer ID. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- Usage: basic in-app events (for example, that a quest was viewed or completed) stored in our own database to understand how SideQuest is used and fix problems. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking tools.
- Device access you choose to grant: in the app, the camera and photo library are used only when you add a photo to a completion or profile.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in and keep it secure.
- To show your quests, progress, badges and leaderboards.
- To share what you choose to share with friends or the public feed.
- To process purchases and unlock packs or Pro.
- To send sign-in codes and important account emails.
- To review reports and keep the community safe.
- To understand usage and improve SideQuest.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Who can see your posts
Completions are private by default. Only you can see a private completion. Friends-only completions are visible to your accepted friends, and public completions appear in the community feed and on your public profile. Your username, display name, profile photo, level and streak are visible to other SideQuest users.
Service providers
We share information only with the providers that run SideQuest for us:
- Lovable Cloud and Supabase, which host our app, database, file storage and sign-in.
- Stripe, which processes payments.
- Our email delivery provider, which sends sign-in codes and account emails.
- Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or others.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete account. Your account is then scheduled for deletion; you have 30 days to change your mind by signing back in and cancelling. After 30 days we permanently delete your account, profile, completions, photos, comments, reactions, friendships and challenges. We keep limited purchase records where we're required to for tax and accounting.
You can also email support@sidequestideas.com to ask for a copy of your data or to have it deleted.
Children
SideQuest is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, and access to your data is restricted by account-level security rules. No service can guarantee perfect security, so please let us know right away if you think your account has been compromised.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or to object to certain uses. Email support@sidequestideas.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the effective date above and let you know in the app or by email.
